Core Benefits & Experience

  • Benefit Profile: Mellow yellow tea for green tea lovers with mild stomach sensitivity. May help support mental alertness, soothe spicy-meal induced dry mouth, and aid gentle digestion. Has a non-cooling, easy-drinking profile.
  • Tasting Experience: Glossy golden buds brew into a clear bright yellow liquor. Offers a bright yet mellow sip with chestnut and orchid notes, no harsh green tea bite, and a long clean sweet finish.

Key Features

  • A Tea Steeped in History
Originating from Mengding Mountain, a site with over two millennia of documented tea cultivation history, Mengding Huangya is celebrated in classical poetry and was once presented as a tribute tea. It carries a profound sense of heritage and craft.
  • The Unique “Men Huang” Craft
Its character is defined by the traditional “san chao san men” (three kills, three smothers) process. This repeated wrapping and smothering allows the leaves to gently oxidize, developing the signature sweet, nutty flavor and smooth mouthfeel that sets yellow tea apart.
  • Versatile for Hot & Cold Brewing
This tea performs beautifully both ways: hot brewing unlocks its robust, nutty aroma, while cold brewing highlights its inherent sweetness and purity. It can be enjoyed on its own or creatively paired, fitting various moments from morning to evening.
  • Geographic Indication for Authenticity
As a product with protected geographic indication status, every leaf is sourced from the core Mengding Mountain region and processed according to traditional methods, ensuring authentic and consistent quality.

Origin & Growing Environment
Our Mengding Huangya comes from the mist-shrouded slopes of Mengding Mountain in Ya’an, Sichuan—a region revered as the “holy land of tea.” The unique microclimate, with moderate temperatures, abundant rainfall, and mineral-rich acidic soil, provides exceptional conditions for tea growth. The tea gardens are maintained using natural methods without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

Cultivation & Craftsmanship

  • We practice natural cultivation, using manual weeding and pest control, and select only the first pluck of spring buds.
  • The essence lies in the intricate “san chao san men” process: after fixing, the leaves are wrapped to smother, then refixed, and the cycle repeats. This labor-intensive, hands-on craft requires precise control over time and temperature to develop the signature flavor without compromising the leaf’s integrity.

Three Ways to Enjoy

  1. Hot Brew (For Ritual & Appreciation)
Ideal for a mindful moment. Use 1 sachet per 300ml (10 oz) of water at 85‑90°C (185‑195°F). Steep for 1-2 minutes. The buds may stand upright in the cup. The flavor evolves beautifully over multiple infusions.
  2. Cold Brew (Sweet & Refreshing)
For a naturally sweet iced tea. Use 1 sachet with 500ml (17 oz) of cold water. Refrigerate for 4-6 hours. Serve over ice for a smooth, sweet, and refreshing drink.
  3. Creative Infusions
    • Honey-Citrus Iced Tea: Add a touch of honey and a lemon slice to cold brew.
    • Nutty Tea Latte: Combine hot-brewed tea with warm milk or oat milk.
