Dongding Oolong - A Classic Taiwanese Oolong with Honeyed Notes

A creamy, rich Taiwanese oolong tea that supports balanced healthy metabolic function, soothes normal digestive comfort, and provides steady, calm energy for all-day sipping.

Core Benefits & Experience

  • Benefit Profile: Classic Taiwanese roasted oolong for daily sipping. May help ease sluggish digestion, support focus, and soothe daily irritability. Has a smooth, balanced profile perfect for everyday routines.
  • Tasting Experience: Glossy dark rolled leaves brew into a bright golden liquor. Offers a rich mellow sip with stone fruit, orchid, and gentle roast notes, with perfectly balanced flavor and zero bitterness.

Key Features

  • High-Mountain Terroir, Distinctive Character
Grown at elevations of 600-1000 meters on Dongding Mountain, the tea benefits from cool temperatures, mist, and significant day-night variation. These conditions allow for a slow growth cycle, contributing to its signature honeyed sweetness and layered aroma.
  • Light Roasting for Broad Appeal
The light-medium roasting technique is key. It gently removes any grassy edges while carefully preserving the tea's innate high-mountain fragrance, resulting in a balanced cup that is neither too sharp nor too heavy—perfect for both new and experienced tea drinkers.
  • A Recognized Classic from Taiwan
Dongding Oolong holds a distinguished place among Taiwanese teas and is recognized by tea enthusiasts worldwide for its consistent quality and characteristic profile.
  • Traditional Craft, Consistent Quality
The tea is processed through traditional steps including solar-withering, shaking, oxidizing, fixing, rolling, and roasting. Experienced local tea masters meticulously control each stage, especially the final roasting, to ensure the honeyed aroma, sweet aftertaste, and mellow body remain consistent from batch to batch.

Origin & Growing Environment
Our Dongding Oolong is sourced from Lugu Township in Nantou, Taiwan—the heartland of this tea. The high-altitude environment (600-1000m) on Dongding Mountain provides a humid, cloudy climate with abundant diffused light and mineral-rich, acidic sandy loam soil. The tea is cultivated using natural methods without synthetic pesticides or chemical fertilizers.

Cultivation & Craftsmanship

  • We employ natural cultivation methods and hand-pick leaves at optimal maturity in spring and autumn.
  • The craft focuses on precise oxidation (“Zuo Qing”) to develop the complex aroma, followed by a light-medium roast. This careful roasting removes astringency and rounds out the flavor without overpowering the tea's natural honeyed character inherited from its terroir.

Three Ways to Enjoy

  1. Hot Brew (Classic)
Use 1 sachet per 300ml (10 oz) of water at 205-212°F (96-100°C). Steep for 1-2 minutes to enjoy the evolving honey and floral notes.
  2. Cold Brew (Smooth & Sweet)
For a exceptionally smooth iced tea, use 1 sachet with 500ml (17 oz) of cold water. Refrigerate for 4-6 hours. The result is a naturally sweet, fragrant drink with no bitterness.
  3. Creative Infusions
    • Honey Milk Tea: Add warm milk or oat milk to hot-brewed tea.
    • Fruit-Infused Oolong: Add fresh lychee or peach to cold brew.
    • Sparkling Oolong: Mix cold brew with sparkling water and a mint sprig.
